The first in the groundbreaking Umjolo film series, The Gone Girl brought unique challenges in blending social media elements into traditional editing. As Post Supervisor, I aligned the team with the creative producer’s vision and facilitated a cohesive workflow, which allowed the editors to shape a unique, trendsetting style to be continued in subsequent films

This intense, high-stakes series broke new ground in South African action television. I took over as Post Supervisor and, with my editing contributions, earned a nomination for Best Achievement in Editing at the 2017 SAFTAs. Overcoming staffing challenges, I ensured each episode was completed to a high standard, on time, and on budget.

On South Africa’s most-watched daily telenovela, Uzalo, I led the post-production team through a complex migration from Final Cut Pro 7 to Premiere Pro. I established a new workflow to ensure uninterrupted delivery, guiding the team and even editing several episodes myself to maintain quality and meet broadcast deadlines. This is a snippet from one of the episodes I edited.

This season was pivotal as Skeem Saam transitioned from a weekly drama to a daily telenovela. I spearheaded the team’s training in Avid Media Composer, collaborating with the editorial and finishing vendor to facilitate a seamless, efficient workflow transition, ensuring the show maintained its high production value.

Day Ones - Feature Film

For Day Ones, the second film in the Umjolo series, I worked closely with the creative team to refine the storytelling approach while maintaining the unique social-media-inspired editing style established in the first film. We also expanded on the split-screen style, enhancing the visual narrative and delivering a cohesive and engaging follow-up to the series.

My Beginning, My End! - Feature Film

During the post-production of My Beginning, My End!, the third film in the Umjolo series, we faced a unique challenge: client viewing had to occur before the car crash scene was shot. To ensure the preview was engaging, the editor inserted storyboard frames as placeholders, I suggested they enhance it with sound design and voiceover, maintaining immersion for the audience. Continuing the series’ distinctive style, we incorporated social media elements and expanded on the split-screen technique, delivering a seamless and dynamic storytelling experience.
